Black Voices was founded in 1988 by Carol Pemberton, the present Music Director and Bob Ramdhaine, the group’s Manager. Since then, the quintet has become one of the most popular a cappella formations in Britain. In 1991 Black Voices released their first album: “No Additives” – produced by David Hinds of the reggae group Steel Pulse. The group has been rapidly building an international audience while touring successfully in Spain, Holland, Austria, France, Germany, The USA, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. The group’s music captures the essence of an international black community. Spirituals, Gospel, Reggae, Calypso, Blues and contemporary popular songs speak to people of all ages, colours and cultures. Black Voices are supported by the Arts Council, GB.
