Abadabukileyo is part of the Zulu-phrase "Unculo Uthokozisa Abadabukileyo", which means "Singing makes sad people happy" Abadabukileyo, worldmusic-choir of the Saint-Gertrude College Wetteren, Flanders, Belgium. Abadabukileyo was founded on the 13th of November 1997 by conductor Reinout Bracke. Twice a week he guides a group of young people through a musical journey all around the world.Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons, from 12.40h till 13.20h these pupils sing out their belief in a ‘better’ world, a world where solidarity and respect still have meaning. These young people dare to dream that we can do better, through their journey they also learn to enjoy the beautiful things our world has to offer today. Dazzeling rhythms and a rainbow of sounds, without discriminating anyone… We don’t have voice tests, we don’t have auditions, you don’t need to know how to read sheet music: everyone is welcome, the only thing you need is the enthousiasm to kick the world a musical conscience. The choir uniform consists of a black T-shirt with the Aba logo at the back, our "the world is our home"-globe with music notes that reach to the sky. Around the neck, we wear, both humble and with great pride the Wipala scarf. The Wipala (in Aymara: to reach out into the sky, to wave in the sky) consists of the seven colours of the rainbow (white: the infinite, yellow: power, sun, orange: society, culture, red: earth, purple: politics, organisation, blue: water, green: vegetation, economy
