He finished his university studies as an award-winning filmmaker with an MFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, while supporting himself as a musician. He moved to Sweden in 1974 where he embarked on his career as a singer/songwriter. He has had songs covered by other artists, done numerous radio and tv shows, and composed for theatre. Bert has played together with such diverse musicians as singer/songwriter Peter Case, rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson, old-timey legend Tom Paley, blues artist Eric Bibb, and Swedish cult favorites Sven-Ingvars. Irish traditional music has been his passion for the past 25 years, making trips to Ireland to play music as often as he can. He began playing in a duo with Christy O'Leary 3 years ago, and now Bert’s main focus is on Irish music. His unique guitar and bozouki accompaniment is easily recognizable.
