We should do something about that because this American based in Sweden, with more than 30 years in the blues, is something as uncommon as a veteran with a genuinely novel approach to his music and his musical heroes." - Blues News magazine, Norway BERT DEIVERT Born 1950, Boston, Massachusetts, USA, Bert Deivert grew up in Derry, New Hampshire, on the east coast of the United States. He finished his university studies as an award-winning filmmaker with an MFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, while supporting himself as a musician. He moved to Sweden in 1974 where he embarked on his career as a singer/songwriter. He has had songs covered by other artists, done numerous radio and tv shows, and composed for theatre. Bert has played together with such diverse musicians as singer/songwriter Peter Case, rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson, old-timey legend Tom Paley, blues artist Eric Bibb, and Swedish cult favorites Sven-Ingvars. Irish traditional music has been his passion for the past 25 years, making trips to Ireland to play music as often as he can. He began playing in a duo with Christy O'Leary 3 years ago, and now Bert’s main focus is on Irish music. His unique guitar and bozouki accompaniment is easily recognizable.
