Band Components: Riccardo Loriggiola, Dario Andreella, Giovanni Binato, Massimiliano Biolo, Massimo Loriggiola. In September 1999 Astralia started to record its first CD, "Connected", supported by Mellow Records, historical label of the Italian progressive music. Theyr sound could be compared with bands like King Crimson, Rush and Queensryche... but anyway it keeps the distance from each of them, so that one of the product’s and band's main quality is originality. “Connected” contains 8 tracks (plus a "bonus track"), all original, with English lyrics. It could be considered a "concept album": it talks about an old sage, Rabin, who travels to a beautiful planet: “Astralia”, with wonderful people and special music. That's off course a metaphore, a way to treat nowadays' problems such as the hardness to find an identity out of the conventional schemes (“Genesi’s doubt”), the troubled love affairs (“Breaking the silence”), the hard dad-son relationship (“Dedalo’s torment”), the self-confidence search (“The conquest”), the dream as a mind trip (“Signals from unconscious”) and finally a sense of peace when planet Astralia is reached (“The arrival”). The band invites to this trip between sounds and rhythms, sometime sweet, sometime shooting, to tell the difficulty hidden in an ambitious run which anyway leads to everyone’s satisfacyion.
