Artist
Angelo Notari (Padua, January 14, 1566 - London, December 1663) was an Italian composer. After specializing in Venice, he emigrated to England. In 1610 he entered the service of Henry II, and from 1618 of King Charles II. His most important work is the "Prime Nuove Musiche", published in 1613, which contains monodies, songs and variations on the madrigals of Rore. The book is important because through it Notari introduced methods and advanced knowledge of Italian style to the court of England. He died in London in 1663 at the age of 97 years. Some of his compositions: Nasce is in Cielo (Prime Nuove Musiche) Ruggiero (for flute, viola, lute and theorbo).
