An Oceanfront Architect is an American post-rock band based in Perry Hall / Baltimore, MD; Consisting currently of Chris Ford, Alex Sweeley, and occassionally Shawn McDaniel on drums. The band often uses reverb and distortion over clean rhythm guitars or vice-versa. Conceived in 2009, they recorded their debut EP, receiving minimal exposure but also much acclaim. More recently after lineup changes the band is recording a new album due out sometime late 2010. They have also launched their own label for self-promotion - Sub-Channel Static Records. The birth of An Oceanfront Architect was coincidental as Chris was once thought to have been killed according to former bandmates before they were re-introduced through another drummer and the concept was decided unanimously through the first song. Although influenced by a broad spectrum of artists including Joy Wants Eternity, The Raveonettes, Radiohead, and This Will Destroy You, An Oceanfront Architect maintains a distinct powerful signature sound all their own.
