Pianist, composer, arranger and teacher, Amilson Godoy was born on May 17th 1946 in Bauru, Brazil. In his youth, as a classical pianist, Amilson won several competitions and performed with different Symphonic Orchestras in Brazil. In late 60's, as a Brazilian Popular Music piano player he was part of Bossa Jazz Trio and in the 80's part of Grupo Medusa. Amilson performed and recorded with artists such as Elis Regina, Ray Conniff, Dizzy Gillespie, Shirley Basset and Sadao Watanabe. As director of the music school at "Sao Caetano Arts Foundation", he introduced popular music into de academic teaching where he created a teaching model that has been followed by most of the music schools in Brazil nowadays. He was the conductor of the Sao Paulo's Jazz Symphonic Orchestra and now he conducts the Arte Viva Orchestra. As an arranger he won the 26th Vina del mar International Festival, in Chile.
