Alexandra Ashley Hughes (born 31 July 1985), known professionally as Allie X, is a Canadian singer, songwriter and visual artist. She began her career as an independent pop artist in Toronto in the mid-2000s, performing with local bands and releasing self-produced material that established her interest in character, control and visual storytelling. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2013, Hughes began collaborating with producers Cirkut and Billboard, officially launching the Allie X project. Her debut single “Catch” gained critical attention and peaked at number 55 on the Canadian Hot 100 after being publicly praised by Katy Perry, positioning her as a distinctive new voice in alternative pop.
