Aliya Marie is a indie pop, rock, singer/songwriter presently located in Los Angelas, CA, United States. In recalling her early introduction to music, Aliya says, "One of my first memories is of a little red toy piano that I loved when I was 2 or 3 years old. I used to have singing contests at my slumber parties on weekends. I played the flute in the marching band (embarrassing picture to come to the gallery soon) and I wrote my first song when I was 12 on the flute, which became my family's answering machine recording. I fell in love with the electric guitar when I was 16 and got a job a Sears just so I could raise money and buy one." "Later, I moved with my electric guitar to Seattle and went to college and kept writing songs and playing music. I was working as a scientist and not very happy because I knew I needed to live my life doing music and not looking through microscopes. Sooo...I packed my electric guitar into my car with as much of my things as I could, and gave away everything that didn't fit to the Goodwill, and journeyed alone to Los Angeles." "Some neat things have happened in LA in the short time I've been here: I won a Southwest Airlines birthday jingle competition with my band and got to play on an airplane during a flight at 35,000 feet somewhere over California and Oregon.
