Akkilles is the experimental project of singer/songwriter David Bennett. Invoking his love of Greek mythology and classical pottery, it is also an effort to display a multi-genre approach to songwriting and recording. Influences vary, from 90’s R&B to early and modern psychadelia, with an emphasis on folk melody. The resulting material is a gauzy multi-track collage of ambient pop. Bennett started the project in the summer of 2011, and has been an active participant in the Kansas City music scene since 2008, writing and rewriting a plethora of songs. Although it is a solo project, friends are included in his work and frequent performances. Bennett continues to be prolific and is ever expanding the Akkilles catalogue. Constantly recording material in a bedroom studio, he is also hard at work at a professional studio. His first EP will be released early summer 2012, with a full length album to follow thereafter.
