Artist
This band is formed by four artists: Rubene Palma (Lead Singer), Mané (Back Vocals, Synthesizer and Computer), Levi Ramos (Bass and Vocals), and Cabaço (Guitar and Vocals). The band members are Portuguese but received many musical influences from foreign artists worldwide. They strive for a sound that calls the comedy of life through irony and simple scales, funny, yet challenging lyrics, giving their audiences the possibility to laugh at each other, from each other, with each other. Their work often looks like a parody of music and musicians, but never admitting more attention, nor giving less attention to anyone, whatever the prejudice or presumption they may have towards a friend, wife, soldier, doctor, poet or musician… the songs go far beyond their more than apparent simplicity, although in a simple way. They present the respect that comes both from diference and identity to the caricatured object of the song. This message becomes clear for everyone. The dynamic of their concerts makes us experience in our solitude, mirrored both from band and public, the respect that resides in an object, regardless of bias. And all that while laughing, chanting, dancing, smiling, that is: having fun, living! Through their lyrics, Agrupamento Musical Lauro Palma stretch the limits of social differences inside each other's limits, by promoting union, making us closer. They are not speaking any new language! Just the same old same music that we have been playing and hearing for ages.
