ALSDEAD was a metal band hailing from Tokyo, Japan. Their musical style blended aggressive yet melodic metal sound with electronic elements. They formed as a visual kei band on December 29, 2008. It consisted of three former DICE AND JOKER members, vocalist MAKI, guitarist Shin (沁), and drummer Setsua, along with bassist Reito (玲人) from the band Ry:dia. The songs were composed by MAKI and Shin. The band's concept revolved around creating music inspired by mental disorder themes, aiming to express both the negative and hopeful aspects of the human mind. The name "ALSDEAD" was chosen with the meaning "all is dead," symbolizing the inevitability of death while acknowledging the continuous cycle of life and rebirth. Maki has said that he loved 80s hard rock since his teenage years, finding inspiration in Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica and Megadeth. On January 28, 2009, they released a debut single, "Violent of Reason", and just month later, February 25, the second single, "S.a.g.A.". Earlier than what they might have expected, they were asked to perform overseas within six months of forming the band. On May 29, 2009 ALSDEAD played as an opening act for Camino at the A-KON anime convent in Dallas, Texas. ALSDEAD later performed at Anime Vegas alongside Satsuki (砂月)on September 5-7, 2009.
