Artist
In the beginning of 2013, Drew Mills found himself in an airplane flying from Philadelphia to San Francisco. Unknown to him at the time, this cross-country trip would kick-off the next chapter of his artistic story. Not just because it resulted in his first batch of recordings to be released under his new moniker, A.M. Mills (short for Andrew Micah Mills, his full name), but because this introspective journey allowed him to explore and hone his own singular voice and sound. Six months earlier, Mills’ longtime band, Blood Feathers, dissolved along with his decade-long songwriting partnership. After a desire to explore a darker and more moody direction, Mills got to work penning a batch of songs rooted in his own gospel upbringing, love for obscure worn-out crooners, and avante-garde classic songwriting. With this new output begging to be put on tape, he looked no further than his close friend, sound engineer, and San Franciscan, Terry Yerves to capture this raw early solo work (later released as the Window Box EP in 2017). Spending this time away from Philadelphia — the scene of much of the heartache, passion, and woe that defined his own life — Mills was granted the opportunity to reflect, temper, and capture these emotions to share with us through his craft as a songwriter. By 2014, A.M. Mills became a fully realized band consisting of close friends Patrick Marsceill (drums), Tracy Stanton (bass), and Joshua Cicetti (guitar). Earning a reputation for "cosmic noir-ish"
