Gil Beck (Lungbutter, Angry Petunias) and John Bidochka (Lungbutter, Angry Petunias) and Jesse Johnstone (Feederchain, Sherlocke) founded A Band Featuring Instruments in 2001. The band was interested in hearing what happened when elements "A" and "B" were put together (or "X" and "Y" for that matter), and based their success on how much they laughed. Johnstone primarily plays drums, Beck mostly bass, and Bidochka generally plays an oddly tuned 12-string acoustic (fed into a distortion pedal) for a combination of sounds unheard until their 2002 self-titled CD. Ask 100 people what genre this music is, and you'll likely get 100 different answers.
