156/Silence is a chaotic hardcore / metallic hardcore band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, formed in 2015. The group is known for combining emotionally charged lyricism with dissonant guitar work, volatile tempos, and an experimental approach that blurs the lines between metalcore and hardcore punk. The current lineup features Jack Murray (vocals), Jimmy Howell (guitar), Ryan Wilkinson (guitar), and Kyle O’Connell (drums). Former bassist Lukas Booker was a key member until his passing in March 2025. Past members include Mike Ernst, Christian Snow, Aleks Pihl, and Zac Dranko. Their debut album, And Everything Was Beautiful (2016), introduced their raw, abrasive sound. It was followed by Undercover Scumbag (2018), which established their chaotic energy within the underground hardcore scene. The band reached a wider audience with Irrational Pull (2020) and Narrative (2022), both released through SharpTone Records. Their latest release, People Watching (2024), expanded their range with sharper dynamics and more melodic experimentation. 156/Silence’s music explores themes of anxiety, self-doubt, grief, and personal collapse — delivered through harsh vocal performances and dense, angular compositions. In 2025, the band mourned the loss of bassist Lukas Booker, who passed away unexpectedly. In statements, the remaining members
