So Tom The Harp had to go and join Florence and The Machine. What is a singer/songwriter to do? Why pick up a ukulele and a bass clarinet of course and redefine the electro-acoustic sound into something more immediate, more heartfelt and more fun than ever before. The Ventriloquist IS a break up record, and as such every song carries a plea fro understanding and communication in it's lo-fi multi tracked heart. The uke and bass clarinet weave around processed drums and music boxes on 'I am the flood' and 'Night train', go bare bones and glitchy on 'This way for fun' and ramp up the sing along pop on 'Phantoms' and 'Lunatics'. But it is the title track, all lonely piano and brass begging for communication, and used on the BBC 4 documentary 'Ventriloquists' that will really draw you in...
