Boyd Deering presented this CD in 2005 after having worked professional theater for about a year. Noticing how audiences almost always loved well-played simple melodies much more than musician-oriented note jamming, Boyd took on the task of producing a concept recording project designed to take the listener on a musical pilgrimage through various musical styles. This became “The Pilgrim Soul”. Styles ranging from John Hartford to the Beatles, Billy Joel, and Sting integrate with folk, fiddle, original, country, old-time, and gospel music influences. Then to make the party even a bit more interesting, Boyd invited some Grammy Award winning world-class musician friends over to the studio such as Vassar Clements, Aaron Till, Leroy Troy, and Jim Wood for starters. Tone and taste rule over hot licks and gimmicks. This is easy listening acoustic based music with enough variety for everyone here.
