This project was released originally in 1995 as Boyd Deering’s first solo recording project. Marma Music has recently changed the track sequence and repackaged the once out-of-print work making this recording debut now available again. While Boyd stays on mandolin and fiddle, co-producer Jim Wood plays violin, viola, guitar, tenor guitar, bouzouki, synthesizer, and other traditional and contemporary Irish folk instruments. The end result is a musical hybrid of middle Tennessee fiddle culture and modern Celtic influence on the mandolin. Fiddle tunes normally reserved for the fiddle are taken into new territory here. The emphasis is on tone and melodic contour. The pairing of basic fiddle tunes on mandolin with a good splash of contemporary Celtic makes for some interesting listening.
