Following the success of 2009 release Spires; Echoes: Seduction, The Moment was released on New Years Day, 2010. Expanding on the previous albums theme of ambient, atmospheric electronic music, the album starts in a calm unprepossessing manner with 3 ambient tracks before settling into a pattern of lightly toned ambient electronic music with a slightly poppy theme. One element of the album is the more extended use of untampered field recordings which compliment to the ambience greatly. The choice of samples in firstly complimenting the production and driving the tracks into different areas or climaxes is improved too. The album does change in tone and genre from beginning to end but is held together via the samples and melodies that lend the album an airy tone, occasionally wandering into sadder, more wistful ambience. There are callbacks to previous work such as Swept By The Dying Light that evokes the melancholy and night-time headyness of Lucid Dreams, and the end track Barrier that combines the new features of The Moment with ambience more akin to Wheels Of Industry. Overall the album is an engaging listen as it swings from an ambient start to a more accessible cleaner sounding middle before slowly introducing the beginning elements as the piece nears its conclusion.
