about this album

‘Run’ (digital) release: 6th July, 2009. ‘Run’ is the second single to be released by South Yorkshire’s finest five piece, GLASSYOUTH. Showing a slightly softer side to the bands usual high energy Maximo-meets-Maccabees sound; ‘Run’ tackles the pointlessness of running from your problems and displays a notable maturity and diversity in song writing, perhaps not yet seen by the boys before. A perfect slice of emotive indie, the track picks up where first single ‘Bottle after Bottle’ left off, driving the band forward with force filled determination. Formed in 2006, the band, previously named The Headliners, quickly built up a large fan base and live audience through extensive touring of the UK. The band went on to win the 2007 Channel4 Unsigned Competition and were finalists within 2007’s Mobile Act Unsigned TV programme. With this and their fans support, the band then headed out on the road again, playing Glastonbury festival, T4 on the Beach (2007) along with support slots with the likes of 'Mark Ronson', 'The Holloways', 'The Wombats' and 'The Subways'. Having spent the majority of 2008 in the studio with producer Alan Smyth (Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and the Makers, Pulp) recording tracks for their debut album ‘Never See Never Learn’; the band have emerged with a newly energised sound, energy and new name: GLASSYOUTH.
