Album
Race Music is the debut studio album of NY duo Armand Hammer (Elucid and billy woods). The album was supported by the release of Half Measures, a mixtape that dropped just five weeks before Race Music. Additionally, on October 3, the duo released their debut single, the Messiah Musik-produced "Shark Fin Soup," which would be included on Race Music. In 2014, the duo would release two music videos for Race Music. The first for "Willie Bosket," released on April 2 and the second for "The Rent is Too Damn High" on July 3. The album was received well, despite minor commercial success. Tiny Mix Tapes called it "a potent record about life, art, sex, drugs, politics, and violence."; The Village Voice included it on the "10 Best New York City Rap Albums of 2013" list; on October 25, 2013, "Shark Fin Soup" was included on Spin's "Rap Songs of the Week" list. Blockhead, who had collaborated with woods on his 2013 project Dour Candy, would produce a remix of "Black Ark," which saw its release on December 17, 2013. It can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/backwoodzstudioz/armand-hammer-black-ark-remix. This would later be included on their 2014 EP, Furtive Movements.
