If Adrian Younge were to reimagine the Mahavishnu Orchestra legacy, abandoning funk and jazz-rock for a blend of blues, progressive rock, and dark jazz, this would be the release he'd get. The title "Progressive Alogia" speaks for itself: "alogia" (the loss of the ability to speak) becomes an artistic device here—the tracks lack vocals, as the author believes, "words are powerless and fall away as unnecessary, giving way to musical expression, which strikes a clear balance between structure and freedom, composition and improvisation." The music is spontaneous and built on a framework of sexuality and retro aesthetics. The main instruments are the Hammond B3 organ and the Fender Rhodes electric piano. The EP was released on Label Cantroll. About the project: EllektraJazz is a retro jazz-rock project by multi-instrumentalist and publicist Yuri Vinogradov. Yuri is primarily a pianist and organist, but also plays guitar, bass, and various electronic instruments. He frames the project's music with conceptual frameworks of philosophical ideas and the nostalgic aesthetic of the 1970s. Yuri also writes lyrics about the philosophy of classical and academic music and records music across various genres, releasing it under the names Pure Violet, Yuri Vinogradov, and EllektraCyclone.
