EllektraJazz project of multi-instrumentalist, historian of philosophy and music publicist Yuri Vinogradov is a one man band project exploring the possibilities of improvisational music within the limits of vintage jazz-rock. He plays piano, organ (classical and Hammond), guitar, bass and sequencers. The compositions weave together both a nostalgic, old-fashioned sound in the vein of electric Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and more psychedelic rock and jazz in the tradition of King Crimson, Sun Ra, Gentle Giant, John McLaughlin as well as modern elements such as trip-hop. The pieces are cold-rational, melancholic, intuitive and emotional. In addition to the EllektraJazz project, Yuri also records music under his own name, plays in the EllektraCyclone and BlueStripes projects, and writes lyrics about classical and academic music philosophy on the "Sigma" platform. "The album Forget Me Not was recorded over many years. It uses both records that are about ten years old (for example, the track Magpie uses an old duet with Irina Obrezkova on guitar) and brand new sketches. I like to go back to my old parts - it allows me to complicate the nuances and enrich the nuances. It's as if you're meeting yourself, looking in the mirror, when you actualize material you recorded a long time ago.
