Album
"Woodpecker Wooliams is the guise of Brighton, UK singer-songwriter Gemma Williams. Her songs are a vast universe where art overcomes doom. Drawing together various influences: medieval folk, chamber pop, drone, field recordings – she sounds very fresh yet familiarly close to heart. A gently plucked harp and a powerful voice, rich witty lyrics and outbursts of small noises and samples / weirdo effects. She couldn’t care less for comparisons with Cocorosie and Joanna Newsom because she’s taking her own way, revolving around the revisited English folk traditions. Gemma has a couple of European tours behind her back, as well as one in Russia, a dozen of collaborations and is now finishing her second full-length album. Thus Full of Nothing are re-releasing her previous EP “Patryoska” which was originally out in criminal edition of 36 CD-Rs on stunning Italian imprint Wool Shop Productions User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
