Oli FM is rapper-producer Oliver Francis’s fourth extended play and the first project to be released through his Wild Halo Records label imprint under Hopeless Records. The project sees Oliver take a step back from the concept of his VIOLENCE releases, instead opting for a melodic, pop-rap and cloud rap sound much more familiar to his long-time fans. The EP was first announced in a now-deleted post to Oliver’s Instagram on June 24, 2021. In the post, Oliver revealed the project’s title and explained his plan to hold off on the unofficially-titled VIOLENCE album that he had been teasing for the past few months: "K soooo instead of album I’m dropping a ep for the summer and im release one of the songs every 2-3 weeks. love uuuu tyyyyy" As promised, Oliver began dropping singles from the project every few weeks, each with an accompanying music video, beginning with “penthouse” on June 29 and ending with “MOB” on the project’s release date of October 1, 2021.
