'Matt Ford' is a self-released demo by Merseyside, England musician Matt Ford, known for his work in Torture Garden, Serotonal and Black Magician. It was released on March the 17th 2014 on CD and digital format. The demo was written, performed and produced entirely by Ford, with CD artwork by Kirsten Whittle. 'Matt Ford' marks a significant shift in style from Ford's previous, metal-based output. He had been wanting to explore other genres for some time and, following his experiences with his previous bands, he had grown largely disillusioned with the metal scene, and with band life in general. This sparked a desire to work alone on a more solemn and stripped back sound, leading to extensive use of acoustic guitar, and sparse, yet atmospheric arrangements. The demo's lyrical themes deal primarily with death, personal identity, and the vital importance of being true to oneself and one's path in life.
