Manuela’s self-titled debut album – a joyous gem of addictive, eclectic, off-the-wall and instantly refreshing DIY pop – was released on 31 March 2017 via Lost Map Records, in cooperation with Munich-based label Schamoni Musik and Mexican label Panoram, on both vinyl and digital formats. The record features friends old and new, including Jim Dixon (Django Django), William Reese (Mystery Jets), Roxanne Clifford (Veronica Falls) and Paul Thomson (Franz Ferdinand) among many others. Its first single, “Cracks in the Concrete”, premiered on Stereogum and was swiftly picked up by Pitchfork, NME, Brooklyn Vegan and Consequence of Sound. With its scratchy, snaking guitar lines, analogue synth squelches and nagging melodic hook, it’s a tirelessly fun and refreshing arrival that invites endless replays.
