Long awaited and never officially released, the follow up to hk's demonstration, called Last Days of Stereo, was recorded in fits and starts from 1998 to 2001 at the cramped studio/living space named 20 room. While grand in scope and intention, many factors, including personnel changes, drug addictions, and fear of a sophomore jinx conspired to kill the momentum that the band had built up over the preceding few years. In and around 2004 the band finally called it quits, leaving the album unfinished and unreleased. LDOS saw a change in the band's writing and recording approach. While much of the first record was improvised and performed as a group using traditional methods (multitrack tape machines) in larger studio spaces, LDOS was characterized by solitary writing from individual members with a greater use of computers and sequencers. It also differed from demonstration's collage/movie soundtrack approach, with each song a separate entity.
