Maha means great ,ma means mind and tra ,controll or train .The Maha mantra means dear lord Krsna please let me learn to love you and engage me in your service .Chanting is also used as a daily meditaion .Chanting attentively is best and starts the gradual progress for spiritual desires , replacing , often sinfull material desires.Ultimatley one can attain the spiritual world ,free from the karma and the repeated cycle of birth, disease, old age, and death in the material world.
