"Hydro City Zone Act 2" is a song that plays in the second act of the zone of the same name from the 1994 platform game Sonic the Hedgehog 3 which returns in Sonic Mania. It was originally composed by Masayuki Nagao. This rendition by Victor McKnight takes on a lo-fi style. The single cover art is drawn by artist and frequent collaborator Mightysen which is inspired by Act 1 of Hydrocity Zone in Sonic Mania. In the underwater sections, there are switches that encapsulate the playable characters in air bubbles that they can ride around in underwater. While riding these bubbles, players can press left/right to steer them, press up to ascend faster, and press the jump buttons to escape them.
