"Five Finger Discount" is the band's most ambitious and eclectic release to date as well as the best sounding recording that they have ever put out. The five songs on this EP capture the wide range of styles and songwriting that The Discount Heroes are known while reflecting the evolution of the band's sound since their last release. From indie rock to melodic alt-pop, these songs cover the full spectrum of the band's capabilities. The tracks were recorded, produced and mixed at Sine Studios in Philadelphia, PA by and released by Sine Entertainment Group in March 2011, It took nearly two years to complete the final product and it is a big leap forward in terms of arrangements and overall production value from their earlier recordings, In addition to the band's current lineup, seven of Philadelphia's best local musicians contributed their talent in the studio. Most notably, percussionist Freddy Rojo - known for his work with Amos Lee - plays drums on 3 of the EP's 5 tracks. The band has played official EP release shows in Philadelphia, PA and Los Angeles, CA within a span of just a few weeks from the date that the first run of the pressed CD's arrived.
