This album is a musical landscape of mountains, forests and lakes cloaked in a brooding sky that promises the innocence of snow. The listener is taken on a contemplative journey through this land, visiting a dark forest with a darker past, a mountain filled with magic and a hitherto dormant winged serpent that sleeps no longer, and a frozen lake upon which two lovers stand in an embrace, sharing a moment that is melting away even as the pair will it to remain. The landscape holds hidden depths. Ryan covers his own past experience intimately, though metaphorically, in this album, covering the effects of depression, first love and the cathartic refuge of music itself. Like "Highwayman", Ryan says, this album is a work in progress - each day brings new inspiration.
