about this album

In 2009 the TV BUDDHAS released their first album - „The Golden Period“ - on Trost Records. Now they present 6 new songs on a self-titled EP. The band originally hails from Tel Aviv, Israel and moved to Berlin in beginning of 2010. Since their last release they have grown from a duo into a trio – currently comprised of brother and sister Uri (guitar) and Mickey Triest (drums) and guitarist and vocalist Juval Haring. Their wild garage sound is influenced by the raw guitars of MC5, simple Ramones-styled chords and the serpentine harmonies by bands like Television. Their lyrics are written in the vein of the Modern Lovers – from the point of view of outsiders to contemporary hipness culture - lashing out at Polaroid glory, drug abuse and rock’n’roll posers. The EP was recorded on a 1970s taperecorder with only one microphone in just about 2 hours. That turned out to be the ideal way of capturing the TV BUDDHAS' raw energy right onto vinyl...
