“Dancing with your eyes closed” is the second single from Jane Remover's third album Revengeseekerz, released on February 26, 2025 by DeadAir Records. It is a digicore song written, produced, and mixed by Remover herself. It's driven by a booming four on the floor beat and breakdowns that make Remover's vocals turn near-incomprehensible. Its lyrics describe self destructive habits, the push and pull between Remover and her audience and show her making peace with the sound and identity she once tried to leave behind. The track contains homages to Jane’s retired side-project leroy, known for promoting the Jersey club-inspired, sample-heavy mashup genre/scene known as “dariacore.” Jane has been historically ambivalent about her older work and more obscure aliases–just listen to the first Revengeseekerz single, “JRJRJR,” where she illustrates the impact of having to play music from a very different era of her life in painful detail: “Rehearsing songs I hate in Silverlake, trying not to cry / Then I step up off the stage and they don’t know I lost my mind.” Her embrace of a sound reminiscent of her early days, some of dariacore’s most iconic samples (“This song is fucking garbage!”), and piano riffs from her moody debut Frailty (2021) all show that Jane is beginning to come to terms with her past self.
