Cannibal Holocaust is an EP released in 2001 by the American death metal band Necrophagia . Issued through the label Season of Mist The EP was recorded and issued in 2001, debuting on October 22, 2001, on Season of Mist . During this period, the bandβs lineup featured vocalist Killjoy, guitarist Phil Anselmo (credited under the pseudonym Anton Crowley), guitarist Frediablo, bassist Jared Faulk, drummer Wayne Fabra, and keyboardist Opal Enthroned . Title and Concept Both the EPβs name and its title track directly reference the controversial 1980 Italian horror film Cannibal Holocaust, embracing its disturbing aesthetic as artistic inspiration .
