"A Bigger Bang" is the twenty-second studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released through Virgin Records on 5 September 2005. It was the band's final album of original material recorded entirely with Charlie Watts on drums before his death in 2021. The album marked a return to a more basic hard rock sound, contrasting with the eclectic and multi-producer approach of "Bridges to Babylon" eight years earlier. Don Was co-produced the album alongside the band's main songwriting and production team of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Band members Ronnie Wood (guitar) and Charlie Watts (drums) were joined by contracted players Darryl Jones (bass), Chuck Leavell (keyboards), and multi-instrumentalist Matt Clifford. Many of the basic tracks were recorded by Jagger, Richards, and Watts as a trio, with overdubs added later by other musicians. "A Bigger Bang" reached number three in the US, number two in the UK, and number one in eleven other countries. The lead single, "Streets of Love," did not chart in the US but reached number 15 in the UK and entered the top 40 in multiple other countries. Two additional singles were released with moderate international success. Critical reception was generally favourable, with reviewers noting that while the album did not match the band's classic period, it was among the best-received of their later work.
