Album
"Some Girls" is the fourteenth studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 9 June 1978 by Rolling Stones Records. The album was recorded between October 1977 and February 1978 at Pathé Marconi Studios in Paris and produced by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, credited as the Glimmer Twins, with Chris Kimsey as recording engineer. By the mid-1970s, the Rolling Stones' popularity had declined amid the rise of disco and emerging rock acts, as well as the punk movement in the UK. Due to legal issues affecting Richards, Jagger is generally regarded as the principal creative force behind the album, drawing influence from contemporary dance music, particularly disco. The sessions were productive, generating numerous outtakes that were later released on subsequent albums. "Some Girls" was the first album to feature guitarist Ronnie Wood as a full-time member; he had previously contributed to "It's Only Rock 'n Roll" (1974) and "Black and Blue" (1976). With a stable lineup, the album marked a return to a more stripped-back approach and featured fewer guest musicians than previous albums, although blues harmonica player Sugar Blue contributed to "Miss You" and the title track. The album achieved commercial success, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and number one on the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. It became the Rolling Stones' best-selling album in the United States, certified six times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America
