You Can Have It All originated as a 1974 disco hit by George McCrae, written by KC and the Sunshine Band members Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch. The song reached number 23 on the UK Singles Chart[1]. Twenty-six years later, the American indie rock band Yo La Tengo reimagined this track for their 2000 album And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out, reaching number 87 on the UK Singles Chart. The transformation from McCrae's original to Yo La Tengo's version represents a masterclass in musical reinterpretation.
