It is the twelfth track on the 2015 remaster of the album, which adds Blind, from Michael Gira's solo album Drainland, as the tenth track. The song "Why Are We Alive" by Swans is a profound expression of existential confusion and spiritual searching. The first lines introduce the singer's sense of alienation from conventional human experience: "Now I'm not a man and I don't feel love/And I don't see anything coming down from above.
