"Who Needs You" was written by John Deacon, who plays rhythm guitar on the track, alongside lead guitarist Brian May, who plays Spanish guitar. Brian also plays maracas and Freddie Mercury plays a cowbell. The song is fairly similar to Deacon's earlier song "Misfire", in terms of music.
