“When We Shall Touch” is a confessional of acceptance of God’s will and dominion over the protagonist(s) of the album. With the bulk of the song a recitation of a passage “Paradise Lost” concerning Adam’s consternation at the idea of leaving the Garden of Eden (“Paradise”) and ultimately submitting to God’s will, there are clear parallels between the trepidation of the album’s protagonist(s) and the song.
