In the song, the weekend appears to symbolize Payne embracing his recklessness which is, ironically, the time when he feels most alive. “It kind of outlines my struggle with mental health and different things that I had (experienced) living my life the way I used to,” he said, adding that the real-life events that inspired the song are “probably something I’ll never talk about fully.”
