In "Wassup," A$AP Rocky raps about his hometown of Harlem, New York, and how, despite his experimental approach to his music, he still gets love in his hood. In a 2012 interview with Complex, Rocky said, "That was just me basically saying, ‘Yeah, I’m on this weird artsy shit, but I can still go back to the hood.’ I’m still getting love, basically," in reference to the song.
