Lyrically, the song deals with the death of the band’s drummer, Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, who died on December 28th, 2009 from an overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol – It was an accidental OD (Overdose) “Victim” is about the atmosphere and the way the band members of Avenged Sevenfold felt shortly after he died.
