Former porter Silvio de Almeida wrote 'Vem meu amor', with his friend Guio. The song became known in its version by Olodum and exploded when it was re-recorded in 1998 by Ivete Sangalo. The lyrics were written around 1987, when Silvio was 18 and unemployed. The song, said Silvio, was made for a festival of sambas juninos, in the neighborhood of Nordeste de Amaralina, in Salvador. "At that time, the 'Afro bloco's' did not speak much love. They spoke in another way, but not in a romantic way.
