This track was produced by Factory Records producer Martin Hannett around the time he was producing an album for A Certain Ratio (To Each?) in East Orange New Jersey. This is a song that you have probably heard bits and pieces of many times before. It's sometimes said to be one of the most widely sampled tracks ever. The instrumental textures and effects processing to this groove were very unusual at the time it was released in 1981 and have remained fresh and widely used and copied in the 28+ years since it was recorded.
