"Tidal" is the ninth track from Noah Kahan's sophomore studio album, Busyhead. He stated the following about the song's inspiration in an Instagram post: "I once heard a quote about depression that really resonated with me. It described the journey of life as being in a vast ocean, and depression as the sensation of sinking while watching those around you swimming with ease, forward towards the coastline to some great peace within. I wanted to write a song about my personal experience with depression
