Released as the albums' sixth single on June 18, 1994, the track is the second B-side to "Any Time, Any Place", the album's fifth single. In the United States, the single's release was restricted to radio stations. "Throb" peaked at number two on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Songs chart. The remixes of "Throb", commissioned by David Morales, contributed to the song's club success.
