"Thoughts" is an expression of inner turmoil and regret over a broken relationship. The singer is driving around Hollywood, reminiscing about a past relationship and the ways in which it has caused them pain. She also reflects on the influence of this relationship on her relationships with friends, and muses about how it might have caused some of them to drift away. She expresses her need to escape and breaks away from reality with drugs and party-like behavior.
