"This Is the House" was Eurythmics' third single, recorded in 1982 on their own 8-track home studio in north London, built with a personal bank loan from group member David A. Stewart's bank manager rather than record company support. Although the following year it was included on the group's hugely successful Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) album, the single itself was a commercial flop, failing to chart. No music video was made for the single.
